FAQs

  • Yes! I do free 15 minute consultations. • For most people, yes! Therapy is a safe, non judgemental space where you can collaboratively explore your stressors or triggers, improve your relationships, grow your self esteem/confidence, and learn how to master your emotions and problem solve.

For some people, no. A big factor is motivation, research shows that without motivation, you may be less likely to implement the interventions discussed in sessions which will lead to slow or no change.

It’s important to be patient and self compassionate with yourself and the process since everyone is different, and mental health is such a personal experience.

  • The first session is more of a “get to know” session also known as an initial assessment session. I usually follow up on topics discussed in our consultation session.

Some examples of topics that may be discussed are your stressors/triggers, childhood or significant experiences that are important to address, and goals or what you would like to work towards in our sessions.

You can choose to disclose openly what your experiences have been but I also understand that it may be nerve wracking to disclose so much in our first session. We can take our time slowly in unpacking what has been going on, so feel free to be as detailed or as broad as you feel comfortable in our first session. We don’t have to rush into anything that you don’t feel comfortable talking about. We can take as much time as you need! This is a safe and non-judgemental space.

  • Most sessions begin with a check in about how the week went for you. This way, we can address any pressing stressors or triggers you noticed in the past week. Or this is an opportunity to share any success or insight you had that would be helpful to process in session.

Therapy is organic and we may process your feelings about the week, how they connect to your past experiences, your thoughts about the behavior of others as well as your own.

We may also discuss techniques that can help you cope with your stressors such as mindfulness techniques, or brainstorm ways to set boundaries and resolve conflict with people around you.

My approach is integrative, meaning I will personalize the sessions according to your need and where you are in the present. Each session will also be focused on your goals that we typically set in the first or second session. Also, no worries if you feel like you don’t have anything to talk about, this is an opportunity to go deeper into your goals and discuss ways we can build upon the insight you have gained thus far!
